About Douglas

Douglas Kamaru is a wildlife ecologist. Douglas holds a BSc in Wildlife Management from Karatina University, a postgraduate diploma in International Wildlife Conservation Practice from the University of Oxford and an MSc in Biology of Conservation from the University of Nairobi. Douglas is currently undertaking a PhD degree in Ecology at the University of Wyoming in the USA. His dissertation work is geared towards maximizing conservation potential of lion population in the iconic Tsavo Conservation Area in Kenya. He is also seeking to understand whether and how pastoral practices are sustainable with respect to livestock production and conservation. Douglas’s research interest spanning a range of topic focusing on the ecology of African Savanna; with emphasis on predator-prey dynamics, Human-carnivore interactions and conflicts, spatial ecology, and Wildlife-livestock integration systems.
